Week 9: design evaluation.
This week I run the review sessions with the same three participants I was able to talk during the earlier co-design sessions. Overall, the results that came out from these review sessions validated the conclusions that came int he previous sessions. Below there’s a table with some of them and the % of participants that agreed. The purpose of this review was not to obtain quantitative data, but by presenting the answers with percentages I thought it would be easier to understand.
On another hand, the mind maps that we elaborated highlighted participant’s worry for safety issues but also showed that they see AVs as an opportunity for more autonomy with their mobility.
Finally, at the end of this session I wanted to ask the following question to participants: based on your own predictions, do you think that when AVs are fully implemented these will be designed to be used by visually impaired people? They all gave me a negative answer, and the reason they gave was the under the current capitalist system, it’s likely that car-making companies will keep pursing profit instead of making products that are accessible for those who have any impairment.
